Milan Longevity Summit 2025

Sunday, March 23

On Sunday, March 23, as part of the Milan Longevity Summit 2025, Fondazione Luigi Rovati is offering an applied science workshop to assess the positive effects of museum attendance on emotions, stress and cognitive stimulation through questionnaires and clinical surveys. The workshop will be followed by a conference focused on studying the impact of culture on health and longevity, in collaboration with Fondazione Giovanni Lorenzini.

Fondazione Luigi Rovati aims to serve as a center for experimental study on the relationship between exposure to cultural activities and health: the HEALTH-IN-ARTS Study, underway at the Fondazione's Museum and approved by the Ethics Committee of the University of Milano-Bicocca, evaluates the regulation of emotions and stress (which are risk factors for a range of diseases), and cognitive stimulation (which can prevent the risk of neurodegenerative diseases), following a museum visit.

Participants in the workshop, following the methods applied in the HEALTH-IN-ARTS Study, will be given a number of questionnaires assessing emotional state, stress and cognitive stimulation. Blood pressure, heart rate and its variability will also be measured, and saliva samples will be collected as for the determination of concentrations of hormones typical of stress and emotionality, and other biochemical mediators of nervous system activation.

The lecture, which will follow the workshop experience and will be open to a wider audience, will present the results of studies conducted at the Fondazione Luigi Rovati on the topics explored in the workshop experience. It will also be held in collaboration with Fondazione Giovanni Lorenzini, to cover topics such as the relationship between music and health and the effects of art on the first 1,000 days of life.
