Tangled Paths. A Life of Aby Warburg

Thursday 21 November

On the occasion of the publication of Aby Warburg's biography, a meeting with some of the leading experts about the renowned art and cultural historian. A visionary scholar, obsessed with images and their migration through time and space, Warburg founded the first interdisciplinary humanities library in Hamburg in the 1920s, which has now become The Warburg Institute in London. His writings and methodological practice have anticipated visual culture studies by seventy years and are still relevant in many areas of today's world.

A conversation between Hans C. Hönes (author of A Tangle of Paths. Life of Aby Warburg, Professor The University of Aberdeen), Salvatore Settis (archaeologist and art historian, member of the scientific committee of Fondazione Luigi Rovati), Bill Sherman (Director The Warburg Institute) and Martina Mazzotta (art historian, Associate Fellow The Warburg Institute), curated by Johan & Levi in collaboration with Fondazione Luigi Rovati.
