Fondazione Luigi Rovati starts an editorial production focused on the themes of antiquity, with particular attention to the Etruscan world and with the aim of proposing small unpublished treasures and scientific publications.

The Etruscan world and collecting are favourite themes for the Foundation’s activities, particularly focused of the new Etruscan Museum in Milan, which intends to have a pivotal role in the study and enhancement of the archaeological heritage, working alongside and establishing strong relationships with academic institutions.

The series “Atti”, born in collaboration with the publishing house Johan&Levi, gives voice to the conference activity of the Foundation, started with the conference “Immaginare l’Unità d’Italia. Gli Etruschi a Milano tra collezionismo e tutela” (Milan, Palazzo Litta, 30-31 May 2019), organized in connection with the exhibition “Il viaggio della Chimera. Gli Etruschi a Milano tra archeologia e collezionismo” (Milan, Civico Museo Archeologico, 12 December 2018 – 8 September 2019).

The second book “Collezionisti, Accademie, Musei: Storie del mondo etrusco dal XVI al XIX secolo”, edited by Ilaria Bianchi and Giulio Paolucci, collects the proceedings of two conferences organized in 2014 and 2016 by the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa and the Municipality of Cortona, two meetings of considerable scientific relevance and openness to museological and collecting themes, which have become of great interest to scholars of antiquity in recent years. Fondazione Luigi Rovati embraced the idea of publishing the proceedings finding in these testimonies the prodromes of an in-depth examination of the collecting spurs that gave birth to the main Italian and European museum collections.

The collaboration with the publishing house Johan & Levi continues with the Cahiers series and the volume “Cerveteri, Pyrgi e le origini degli etruschi” on the writings bySabino De Nisco”, edited by Vincenzo Bellelli and Folco Biagi.

This nice booklet, enriched by three large-size tables, offers two short publications published in Naples in 1909 that SabinoDe Nisco dedicated to the origins of the city of Cerveteri (actually a study on the origin of the Etruscan themselves, and not only on Cerveteri) and the divinity of the temple of Pyrgi. After a century of oblivion, these brilliant texts are brought back to scholars’ attention, and correctly placed among the main results of the historical-archaeological research on Cerveteri.
